Launching the next phase of the Grampians to Pyrenees Biolinks Project

Watch the recording of our community launch here!

21 August 2026

Our Grampians to Pyrenees Biolinks Team has been very busy the last year, and last weekend we proudly shared our progress and vision with the community!

At our 'Linking Landscapes: Biolinks Community launch event', our three speakers discussed how citizen science and new monitoring tools are helping map fragmented habitat and build a shared plan to reconnect it:

  • Dr Elia Pirtle (Project Platypus) on habitat fragmentation and how biolinks can help our beloved native species thrive.
  • Dr James Maino and Dr Rafael Schouten (Patchweave) on cutting edge monitoring and mapping tools that can help Landcare achieve new, ambitious goals.
  • Jonathan Starks (Hindmarsh Landcare) on the Hindmarsh Biolink Project, and going from a bare paddock with a single tree to thriving habitat, and the birds that followed.

A huge thank you to the Ararat Shire Council for sponsoring us to run the event, and taking care of all the video recording!
